Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Governor Baxter School for the Deaf Partners with Innivee Strategies, Inc. to Lead Next MECDHH/GBSD Strategic Plan

The Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Governor Baxter School for the Deaf (MECDHH/GBSD) announces the launch of the organization’s strategic planning process, which will guide the institution through these challenging times and keep it focused on staying true to its central purpose in the years ahead.

MECDHH/GBSD has engaged Innivee Strategies, Inc., a Deaf-owned and led organizational and leadership development consulting business, to lead our strategic planning process. They have deep experience in supporting organizations with successful outcomes with their strategic initiatives, and we look forward to collaborating on this initiative.

Our goal is to create a coordinated strategic planning process that draws on the extraordinary community and talent in the MECDHH/GBSD family. We will work not only toward a plan, but also a new mission, vision, and values which will guide the development of our strategic priorities and the foundation for our team to regularly review our goals.

The most crucial element in the success of this planning process will be you. Over the next month, we will hold virtual focus groups with key stakeholder groups, including, but not limited to students, families and parents, staff, Local Education Agencies (LEAs), medical professionals, alumni, and the Maine Deaf community. We have created a dedicated MECDHH/GBSD webpage to keep you abreast of the planning efforts moving forward and ensuring both transparency and accountability.

The MECDHH/GBSD Board and leadership have formed an Ad Hoc Strategic Committee of board, staff members, and parents who will drive the development of the new mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities. This committee is charged with thinking boldly about our future, and engaging the wider Deaf and hard of hearing community and our stakeholders in a forward-looking and ongoing strategic planning process.

We are looking forward to having the entire MECDHH/GBSD community involved! Please watch the MECDHH/GBSD website and social media for a survey to be sent out soon that will give YOU the opportunity to share your perspective.

We will continue to communicate updates about the MECDHH/GBSD strategic planning process through the summer and aim to announce the new mission, vision and strategic priorities by the start of the new school year!
